Ashley Oelsen and Lana Negrete are the only two candidates for City Council that we’re confident will listen to, and advocate for, Santa Monica residents.
We know this not because of what they say (candidates say a lot of things) but because of what they’ve already done. They’ve earned our trust by their actions, not just by their words.
When our current City Council came for our coastline—lobbying Sacramento to strip away California Coastal Commission protections in Santa Monica so wealthy developers could build market-rate condos for rich buyers—Ashley Oelsen said our coast is not for sale.
Ashley helped organize residents to fight back—and fight hard—making it clear to our politicians that selling out our coast would come at a steep political cost. City Council and Sacramento backed down and residents won.
Our beach city deserves a councilmember who values our coast, rather than one who tries to extract value from it. Ashley Oelsen will be that councilmember.
Lana Negrete is a longtime Santa Monica renter and small business owner, and the only current councilmember who consistently fights for residents.
Lana has been the lone voice on Council pushing back against Sacramento’s efforts to override local neighborhood zoning. If you believe residents should have a say in what gets built in their own neighborhoods, Lana deserves your vote.
Ashley and Lana. Two excellent choices for Council whose actions—not words—have earned our trust.
Let’s vote and get out the vote!
